How to Add, Change, and Remove a Signature in Gmail

 

Business emails have a signature to reflect your professionalism. If you being a business person don’t have a signature, here is a stepwise guide you can follow to add a signature in Gmail.  

An email signature makes your emails look more professional every time and contains lots of information about you, such as phone numbers, designation, and social media profiles. 

You can note here that you can add up to 10,000 characters in the signature.

What is an email signature?

An email signature is a text that may have information like contact number, your designation, and social media profiles at the end of Gmail messages. Businesspersons use an email signature in the workplace. You can make your signature with the information you want to put in it, and it will show the same information to anyone you mail when you add it once to your email. 

Here is how to add a signature in computer Gmail

  1. Open Gmail on your PC.
  2. Click on Settings in the top right corner
  3. See all Settings 
  4. Add a signature text in the box, in the Signature box if you want to edit an image or text style. 
  5. At the bottom of the page, click on Save Changes. 

Note: you use different signatures for emails added to Gmail. For example, if there are many emails, you can choose a signature to you by default email to send emails. 

How to edit the added signature

You can change or update the information you added earlier to your signature. Here are the steps involved:

  1. Open Gmail on your computer. 
  2. At the top-right screen, click on Settings then see all Settings. 
  3. Under “General,” scroll to find “Signature” and click the signature you want to edit. 
  4. To make your signature changes use the text box. 
  5. Once you are done, click Save Changes. 

Similarly, you can also remove your signature from any email you have added.

How to remove your signature from an email

Here are the steps to remove a signature no longer in use. 

  1. Open Gmail on your PC.
  2. Go at the top right corner and click Settings; see all Settings. 
  3. Under “General,” scroll to find “Signature.” 
  4. Click on the signature that you want to remove. 
  5. Click delete and delete. 
  6. At the bottom, you find Save Changes; click on it to confirm the removal. 

There may be some troubleshoot problems you may face. For example, your signature doesn’t display correctly; you can remove the formatting through Settings. 

Further, here is how to add, change or remove your signature on Android. 

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Gmail app 
  2. In the top left corner, tap Menu (three parallel lines).
  3. Scroll down and at the bottom tap Settings. 
  4. Choose your email where you want to add an email. 
  5. Tap mobile Signature.
  6. Enter text for your signature, and finally, tap Ok 

Similarly, you add, change or remove a signature on your iPad or iPhone. 

  1. Ensure you have downloaded the Gmail app on iPad or iPhone. 
  2. Open the Gmail app on your device. 
  3. Tap Menu (three parallel lines) 
  4. Scroll down and tap Settings
  5. Then, Tap your account
  6. Tap signature settings
  7. Switch on Mobile Signature.
  8. Add or change your mobile signature
  9. Tap back to save the change.
